Going to a festival: Packing dilemma

Are you going to a festival this summer and have no idea what to pack? Maybe I can help you with that!
I was at a music festival just this weekend, so my ideas and must needed pieces are fresh in my mind, as well as the pieces I forgot, and was dying to have them!

Here's some essentials:

1. Baby Wipes

As you probably know, the higena on the festivals isn't really top notch, at least in my experience (however, I did go on a festival that was really small, so keep in mind that maybe yours will be better, but well, better safe than sorry, I guess). Dixie as a toilet is pretty much the most disgusting toilet I can imagine, the smell, the size, the cleanliness (or rather, the lack of it), is still stuck in my mind. So the last thing you want to do is forget your toilet paper, because, god forbid, dixie doesn't have any. Baby wipes can come in handy (do I need to say anything else?). Maybe you won't have any sink, so again, baby wipes come to rescue you! And when you feel stinky and you don't have a shower near by, they're your friend in need. Do I need to say more?? Just buy them already!

2. Hand Sanitizer

I had talk about Dixie disgustingness already. So here's another scenario: you just did your thing in the toilet and you have no soap (or water) to clean your hands.. sounds disgusting? Tell me about it. You NEED, I repeat, need hand sanitizer. You won't be able to wash your hands every time you have a bite of hot-dog or that delicous pomme frites, that your friend bought. Do you want to eat from your stinky, dirty, god-knows-what-they-touch hands? NO!

3. Glitter Nail Polish

Why Karin, you might ask. Well, let me tell you. Do you like a feeling of a chip nails when you want to shine like a diamond? Probably not. Chip nails really aren't a nice touch to your super cool outfit and make up, and, we try to hid them, so no one will notice them. I know, maybe you're saying: "I'm going to a festival, I just want to have fun, and F everything else." Yeah, you're right, but wouldn't it be nice, if you had nice nails, so you can show your peace sign in the photos? Ha! I got your back. Just put the glitter nail polish over the painted nails (just make sure the colours are compatible). And here you go, all set to shine! If you're not going to a festival for whole week, I guarantee you, that you won't have any chip nails, glitter polish will prevent it.

4. Braids & Dry Shampoo

In my experience, you don't have any electricity if you're camping at the festival, so blowdryer and curling wand won't help you at all. If you have long hair, just half-braid it. Put some flowery headband on, and you're good to go! However, if you're spending more than a day in the camp, your hair will probably get greasy and just not nice at all. You probably already know, what I'm going to say: DRY SHAMPOO, all the way!! Spray some dry shampoo on your roots, massage the scalp, leave it for a couple of minutes and than just brush through. Greasy hair, not your problem anymore.

5. WATERPROOF!!

Let me tell you a story. When I was at the festival, the weather wasn't nice - at all. Smarty pants here, didn't check the weather before the festival, so the rain wasn't something I've expected. So here I was, jumping around and listening to music, when huge rain drops appeared on my face. I wasn't wearing any waterproof make up at all - can you end the story? I looked like a big black mess! You never know, what could happen, will you be crying with laughter, dancing in the rain.. you don't want black streaks on your face. I would suggest you just wear some eyeliner, a mascara and a concealer (if you get your hands on some waterproof one, lucky you!), but that's up to you. You just have to keep in mind, that you're going to a festival to have fun and to hang out with your friends, so don't ruin it with re-applying your make up every hour.

Festival essentials

6. Warm Socks

Yeah, I know, it's summer. But if you had the strangest weather, like we had in Slovenia, you might want to think about bringing some warm clothes with you, together with summery ones, as well. I'm gonna sound like a granny, but, there's nothing worse than being cold. At least pack some socks! I really do sound like a grandma.

And last, but not least, bring a condom. I'm not saying you will have sex, or you have to have sex, pretty contrary, please don't have sex.. but still bring a condom. You never know, who's going to need it, and you know, protection is key! (now, I sound like my dad). Heck it, if nobody's going to need it, you can still make a cute balloons out of it! Ha!

That's about it. If you're going to a festival, I wish you a have a blast, no rain and a lot of sunshines and laughs! And be safe, kids! ;)

Talk to you soon,
Karin
